ASAR - Analysis and Synthesis of Directional Acoustic Room Properties
Motivation & Project Description
- Directional analysis of acoustic room properties can bring significant improvements in acoustic measurement technology. The advantages compared to conventional measurement technologies will be investigated.
- Combination of analysis and synthesis can be employed in auralisation of existing or artificially modified rooms. This enables e.g. prediction of influences of architectural design of rooms on their acoustic behavior (WYHIWYG - What You Hear Is What You Get), or creation of authentic environments for teleconference systems.
Project Results
- VariSphear, a flexible spherical microphone array for capturing of multipoint room impulse responses
- SOFiA sound field analysis toolbox for MATLAB, a free implementation of algorithms for processing spherical microphone array recordings; (sofia-py is the Python successor of SOFiA)
