ABSTRACT:
The task of this Master's thesis was to explore the influence of
adaptations towards the user perception of a spoken dialogue system.
The focus is on the social acceptance and the social actorship of the
system. Further investigated dimensions are user experience,
engagement and external control. The investigation was carried out
using a spoken dialogue system in form of an embodied agent named
VirtualK. VirtualK is an information system which informs the user
about ongoing and past projects of the Telekom Innovation
Laboratories. There are two versions of VirtualK available: an
adaptive and a non-adaptive one.
To investigate and evaluate
the influence of adaptations on the user perception a questionnaire
was developed which illustrates all above mentioned dimensions, except
engagement. The engagement of the test subjects was determined by the
log data. The results of the questionnaire and the log data have been
complemented by an interview with the test subjects about the
differences of both versions.
