Date/Time: 24.04.2017, 14:15-15:00
SPEAKER: Yaorong Li
ABSTRACT:
Sleep at the wheel emphasises the importance of the in-vehicle drowsiness detection and alert system. In this talk, a rater-based subjective drowsiness detection method and its rating scale - MIR scale will be introduced and evaluated. This method is based on our common experience that we can recognise drowsiness from others by identifying some "fatigue indicators" from their facial and body expressions. In order to validate the reliability of MIR scale across different cultures, an experiment involved both Chinese and German raters were conducted. By comparing their rating performance, we can assess if raters from different cultural backgrounds could have a consistent and stable drowsiness rating results with MIR scale.
