ABSTRACT:
This talk will present the concept of user modelling and its role in designing personalized user interfaces. In particular, the talk will discuss the importance of user modelling, underlying challenges and summarize applications of user modelling in various EU, Indo-UK and BAE Systems funded projects. There will also be a few demonstrations on Cambridge's Inclusive User Model and its applications in developing Gesture-based and Eye-Gaze based interaction techniques. Bio:
Dr Pradipta Biswas is a Research Fellow at Wolfson College and Engineering Design Centre of University of Cambridge. Previously he was a Research Associate at Trinity Hall. He completed PhD in Computer Science at the Rainbow Group of University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory and Trinity College in 2010 and was awarded a Gates-Cambridge Scholarship in 2006. He previously undertook a first degree in Information Technology at the University of Kalyani and a master degree at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He is also a visiting professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi and a vice chairman at ITU-T Focus Group on Smart TV.
