ABSTRACT:

The Economics of Privacy is a research area devoted to the study of consumer behavior regarding disclosure of personal data and how such disclosure affects competitive strategies of firms and market outcomes. In this session, I present the latest evidence from three experiments on privacy that use an incentive-compatible mechanisms of extracting truthful and inter-subjectively verifiable personal data from subjects. The results obtained from this research are contrasted with other studies in the area.
