Abstract:

Virtual assistants are getting more and more popular. Impressed by the example of Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa, smaller companies and service providers are now showing interest in the implementation of this attractive feature. However such systems are very complex and consist of several technologies, which involved a lot of work over the last years.

The topic of this thesis is the development of a spoken dialog system (SDS) on the basis of the chat-bot framework Dialogflow and its implementation in the pedestrian navigation service TU-Walking, developed in the Universität Regensburg under the name UR-Walking and later adopted by the Technische Universität Berlin. Dialog management along with some error handling approaches are described in the thesis. Additionally, the operating principles of Dialogflow are introduced. In order to evaluate the system, a comparison test was conducted between the graphical user interface (GUI) and speech user interface (SUI) for two groups of users (first semester students and higher-semester students). The system usability of the two interfaces was measured by the system usability scale (SUS). The SUI was ranked "Good".
