ASAR - Analysis and Synthesis of Directional Acoustic Room Properties
Motivation & Project Description
- Directional analysis of acoustic room properties can bring significant improvements in acoustic measurement technology. The advantages compared to conventional measurement technologies will be investigated.
- Combination of analysis and synthesis can be employed in auralisation of existing or artificially modified rooms. This enables e.g. prediction of influences of architectural design of rooms on their acoustic behavior (WYHIWYG - What You Hear Is What You Get), or creation of authentic environments for teleconference systems.
Expected Outcome
- A precise measurement system based on a spherical microphone array (VariSphear) will be designed and built.
- Algorithms to produce parameter sets from measurements for spatial audio reproduction.
