Open Access and Licensing in Science and Research

ABSTRACT:

Open Access and licensing of research outcome and research data have been a topic for a time. Efforts in the context of the Open Access movement demand free availability of and access to scientific literature, materials and research data. In this contexts, ministries, research alliances and institutions developed guidelines for the handling of research data.

The talk focuses on the legal contexts of research data, its licensing and (open) distribution. It will give an overview about legal issues concerning copyright and personal rights, discuss licensing models, the current situation and recommendations and show examples from practice.

BIO:

Anna Neovesky is currently working as a research associate at the Digital Academy of the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz and is writing her doctoral thesis on "Relevance and Ranking in Humanities Corpora and Research Applications" at the Technical University of Darmstadt. She received her degree in Medieval History, Modern History and Computer Science in 2011.
