Understanding user acceptance of mobile push notifications
LOCATION: Auditorium 1, TEL , Ernst-Reuter-Platz 7, 20th floor
Date/Time: 18.08.2015, 09:00-10:00
SPEAKER: Sean Keith (TU Berlin)
ABSTRACT:
The talk investigates the user acceptance of push notifications by evaluating user response rates and direct user feedback collected from app store reviews and a survey. The first part focuses on push notification data gathered over the last one and a half years with several hundreds of thousands of notifications sent. The analysis reveales several factors that influence the likeliness of users reacting to a push notification.
The second part lights up the role of push notifications in a user’s everyday life. Comments on the app stores give the target audience a channel to speak out what exactly they enjoy or dislike about the notification system. Combined with a survey they shed light on how relevant push notifications are today and how attentive users consume them.
