Implementation of a Spatial VoIP Conferencing Demonstrator
LOCATION: Auditorium 1, TEL, Ernst-Reuter-Platz 7, 20th floor
Date/Time: 31.08.2015, 14:15-15:00
SPEAKER: Maxim Spur (TU Berlin)
ABSTRACT:
In this talk, a system for demonstrating spatial audio rendering within VoIP-based multiparty conferencing is introduced. The perceived quality of experience of this system is investigated under varying degrees of packet loss.
Results show that the participants were able to differentiate between all degrees of packet loss and could correctly discern which particular interlocutor's connection was affected, while showing a preference for less packet loss. At the same time, double-talk had a positive effect on quality ratings when compared to alternating speech, which can be attributed to the more apparent nature of spatial rendering as well as a making connection issues less noticeable in these cases.
