Developing an Android-based Mobile Polling Application and Analyzing Users' Privacy Issues

LOCATION: Consilium TEL 1315 , TEL, Ernst-Reuter-Platz 7, 13th floor

Date/Time: 17.03.2014, 14:15-15:00

SPEAKER: Maurice Baiers

An Android-based mobile polling application has been developed.
It receives location-dependent polls from a back-end, which can be filled in on a
smartphone. Afterwards the results are submitted to the back-end.
To analyse the privacy issues of users while using this application, a study with two application versions has been conducted. The test is conducted as a field study. Within three days the participants receive polls three to four times per day.
Several users were advised constantly about the tracking of their location.
The results will be presented in the Usability Colloquium.
