Researching Mobile Applications and Services - Connecting Experiences
LOCATION: Consilium , TEL 1315, Ernst-Reuter-Platz 7, 13th floor
Date/Time: 08.09.2014, 14:00-15:00
SPEAKER: Konrad Tollmar (KTH Stockholm)
Mobile Applications have quickly become the main access points to the Internet. We get weather forecasts, read news, download and listen to music, play games, take pictures and share experiences using our mobiles.
In this flood of new mobile applications and services, a large number of tools and methods have rapidly emerged to study the mobile user experience, build mobile systems, and conduct market research to better understand mobile consumption.
This development has resulted in an unnecessary division of practice and research methods. In this talk, I will give an overview of our research platform and how we try to connect the dots by focusing on the mobile experiences to create a CDIO based model for research and development of mobile applications and services.
Konrad Tollmar is an Associate Professor at KTH. His main research interest is in mobile computing within the area of mobile user experiences and innovative communication technologies. He teaches HCI, interactions design, multimodal interaction and mobile application development, and is the program director for KTH master program in ICT Innovation. Prior to this, he worked at MIT and The Interactive Institute.
The Mobile Service Laboratory at KTH's Department of Communication Systems' overall aim is to foster innovation, education and research in mobile services. The lab is pursuing the study, the design, the benchmarking, and the evaluation of mobile systems and their associated services.
