ABSTRACT:
Based on a time course model of interruption and resumption, this master's thesis inspects cognitive processes after being interrupted while performing a shopping task with a Smartphone application. Thereby, different levels of mental workload are taken into account, which are assumed to influence human performance as well as the choice of resumption strategies in this context. The applied approach combines the development of an ACT-R model with a related experimental setting with 62 human participants. At the outset, the current talk will briefly introduce the theoretical background, but then mainly focus on methodological issues as well as the obtained results.
