Comparing Explicit and Implicit Interpersonal Attraction Based on Auditory Impressions of Unacquainted Speakers

LOCATION: Auditorium 1, TEL, Ernst-Reuter-Platz 7, 20th floor

Date/Time: 22.02.2016, 14:15-15:00

SPEAKER: Iason Georgakopoulos (TU Berlin)

Implicit methods are seen as the new gold standard of valid measurement and they have been shown to diverge from the typically used explicit methods. This thesis investigated the likeability of voices based on short auditory stimuli via such a method, namely the audio Implicit Association Test (aIAT) and compared the results to the well accepted explicit measures (n=20). The results were significant and implied that (a) the aIAT was applied correctly, (b) the stimuli triggered one coherent concept, and (c) the implicit and explicit measures presented congruent results.
