This paper studies how to enhance user experience of mobile Google Calendar application by using User-Centered Design principles. In order to answer the question, three sub-questions were identified:

  • Can users perceive the conceptual model of Google Calendar mobile app? Is it same as desktop version?

  • How do the competitors of Google Calendar mobile app solve the same problems?
  • What do users want when designing such application by using User-Centered Design Principles?

Base on these three questions, different User-Centered Design methods were applied in this research. They are Gap Analysis, Competitive Analysis, Card Sorting, Five Second Test, Usability Test, Iterative Design and AttrakDiff Test. A prototype was built and iterated for two times.

Results have shown that the overall user experience in the final prototype is perceived to be more positive than Mobile Google Calendar. Especially for Pragmatic Qualities because this research focuses on solving usability problems. When the usability problems are solved, it also brings up the Hedonic Qualities. Both result in an high overall Attractiveness. It was also proven that the user experience was improved bit by bit after each iteration in the User-Centered Design Process.
