Forschungscampus Connected Technologies
With its "Smart Home" concept, the "Connected Living" Forschungscampus pursues a vision of tomorrow's networked life. Its long-term aim is to establish a basis for technologies, interaction forms and business models for completely new application scenarios for communication between people and their appliances in the home environment. To this end, a diverse consortium of universities and a group of companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises, has come together at the TU Berlin campus in Charlottenburg.
At the center of the project is the allocation of basic technology for connecting devices and systems in the home in a network. The inhabitants of future connected homes should be supported intelligently in diverse situations. Through the fusion of living environments into intelligent systems, new ecosystems will appear, in which actors are supported by tools and solutions. For example, houses and flats should be developed as smart systems, which can contribute to the stability of smart grids.
The goal of the sub-project „Interaktion und Sensoren“ (interaction and sensors) is to design usage scenarios for connected environments and to develop so called “generic” sensors and actuators. Prospective users from local neighborhoods will be involved in the scenario generation process. Prototypes with suitable sensors will be developed to demonstrate alternative forms of interaction.
This sub-project is conducted in close collaboration with two other sub-projects. The project “Technology, Cloud and Tools” deals with technological aspects of smart homes. In the project „Sensorbasierte Gesundheits-Services“ (sensor-based health services), sensor-based services for fitness, health and autonomous living of elderly are developed.
